CDJ 2000s can only read USBs formatted in FAT32 or Mac OS Extended (HFS+). If your USB isn't formatted correctly, the decks won't be able to read your files.

• Plug your USB into your computer

• Open File Explorer and right-click on your USB drive

• Select Format

• Under File system, choose FAT32

• Click Start and confirm

• Once complete, your USB is ready to load with music

• Plug your USB into your Mac

• Open Disk Utility (search via Spotlight if needed)

• Select your USB drive in the sidebar (not the partition/volume underneath it)

• Click Erase

• Under Format, choose Mac OS Extended (Journaled)

• Under Scheme, choose Master Boot Record

• Click Erase and confirm

• Once complete, your USB is ready to load with music

MP3, WAV, and AIFF all work fine. You cannot count on FLACs working either avoid them or expect them to fail and be happy when they magically don’t

1. Format your USB (see formatting instructions above)

2. Plug your formatted USB into your computer

3. Open Rekordbox

4. Put Rekordbox into EXPORT mode using the dropdown in the top left of the screen — this step is essential or your USB won't be readable by the CDJs

5. Your USB should appear in the Devices panel on the left

6. Drag the tracks or playlists you want from your Collection onto your USB device in the sidebar

7. Rekordbox will automatically convert and copy the tracks, along with your cue points and beatgrids. Note: cue points and hot cues are different things, and hot cues don't always transfer or show up correctly on the CDJs. It's worth checking your hot cues load properly once you're on the gear

8. Wait for the export to finish before safely ejecting your USB

1. Format your USB (see formatting instructions above)

2. Plug your formatted USB into your computer

3. Open Serato DJ

4. Go to the Files panel and locate your USB under Devices

5. Drag the crates or individual tracks you want onto your USB device

6. Serato will copy the files along with your analysis and cue point data

7. Wait for the transfer to complete before safely ejecting your USB
